Monthly Meeting Minutes
SIDRA MINUTES
FEBRUARY 1, 2012
Members present were Phil White, Mel White, Sam Lee, Bret Bell, Bradley Banks, LeRoy Smith, Bruce Mitchell, Dale Smith, and Kyle Denny.
Clubs represented were Rats, Outlaws, Raiders and Black Derby.
President Phil White called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm. Mel read the January meeting minutes which were approved as read. The treasurer’s report was given.
OLD BUSINESS:
Mel reported on the banquet. There were 75 meals sold. There were 36 people who attended but did not eat. We are looking for a new venue for the 2013 banquet.
Bret said the flyers for the Raiders’ race have been mailed out and people should be receiving them soon. The Fire Prevention detail is believed to have been the group who were cutting down the small tress in the Birch Creek area.
Checks have been received from Black Derby, the Raiders, Bar to Bar and the Rats for the insurance. Only Dirt and the Outlaws have not yet paid.
Dave Gomez is working on rebuilding and updating the SIDRA website. Hopefully everything will be up and running smoothly soon.
Sam reported that he has ordered the new scoring equipment and, hopefully, it will all be here by the first race of the year.
NEW BUSINESS:
Gary Olsen is the new sheriff for Owyhee County as Daryl Crandall resigned. The BLM ranger, Mory, is leaving in May. His replacement could possibly be the ranger from the Mountain Home area.
The sound check equipment was located for Bret. It is in the SIDRA trailer and will be available for the Raiders race day.
The March meeting will be held on March 7th at Smokey Mountain Pizza in Nampa. With no further business to discuss, Bret made the motion to adjourn. Sam seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at 7:53pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Mel White

SIDRA MEETING
JANUARY 11, 2012
Members present were Phil White, Mel White, Dan Muller, Sam Lee, Shane Meredith, Adam Meredith, LeRoy Smith, Bruce Mitchell, JT Fowers, Bradley Banks, Bret Bell, Scott Williams, Dale Smith, Kyle Denny, Charles Franks and Nicholas Franks. Special guest was Bill Dart from the Great Basin institute.
Clubs represented were Desert Rats, Black Derby, Raiders, Dirt, and the Owyhee Outlaws.
President Phil White called the meeting to order at 7:33 pm. The December minutes were read and approved as read. Mel gave the treasurer’s report.
OLD BUSINESS:
The flyers for the banquet have been mailed out. The jackets are in the process of being completed also.
Charles Franks reported that he is almost done with the new mount for the reader board.
Phil said that PayPal is working for the comp cards and reminded everyone that a $5 charge should be added to the entry fee for non-SIDRA riders.
Sam will be ordering the new scoring equipment this week. That will allow enough time to make sure it’s all here before the first race of the year. The total will be around $1700.
Scott talked to David Drahiem, the BLM contact for the Grandview area. Dave did attend the monthly tribal meeting and advised them of the date for the Raiders race. Scott also talked to David about the sage grouse issue as more land is being shut down due to this issue. There is a meeting scheduled next week at the Riverside which Scott will attend.
NEW BUSINESS;
Bill Dart from the Great Basin Institute stated that he has been working in the Owyhee Front area doing trail maintenance and installing trail signs. The Institute is planning on getting another grant to continue the work. He asked for a letter of support from SIDRA and the individual clubs to help in obtaining that grant. Scott made the motion to approve the letter of support from SIDRA. LeRoy seconded the motion. After some discussion, Phil called for the vote which was passed unanimously.
Phil asked that each club present a list of their voting members by the February meeting. He has received the list from the Outlaws, the Rats and Black Derby but still needs the lists from Dirt, the Raiders and Bar to Bar.
Kyle received the BLM’s post race report from the Outlaws fall race. They received a good report with superior rating and no negative comments.
The Raiders were out working on their course last weekend. Bret said they ran into some people clearing the area around Birch Creek. The group was pulling out the trees in that area. Bret said they were not associated with the BLM so he was wondering if anyone knew anything about the group.
Mel brought up the idea of changing the venue for next year’s banquet. It has been held at the Elks for the last 4 years and it may be time for a change to get the attendance back up. Suggestions are welcome.
The next meeting will be held February 1st at Smokey Mountain Pizza in Nampa.
As there was not any more business to discuss, Scott made a motion to adjourn the meeting. A second was made by Sam and the meeting was adjourned at 8:39 pm.
Respectfully Submitted,
Mel White
